With the last days of summer quickly approaching it will be hard to say goodbye. Fall is a short season which means winter will be here before we know it and I am not quite ready for the brisk cold nights.

My Favorite Things About Summer

What I love most about summer is the ease of walking around town and exploring new places. Going to the farmers market on Sunday’s will be the hardest thing to say goodbye to. I wish we could have a fresh resource for produce year round. The groceries stores can really be hit or miss. I constantly have to return produce that has rotted away in a day.

Easy Breezy Summer Outfit

Another thing I will miss about summer is those easy breezy summer dresses and skirts. My most comfortable purchase this summer was this adorable silk hummingbird top and the flowy tropical silk midi skirt from Amour Vert. The outfit is made out of sustainable resourced silk, and it is the lightest weight outfit I own. Perfect for a beach vacation or running around town in the summer heat. I have never owned silk before but now it is my favorite fabric for summer.

Amour Vert, I mentioned in a previous post as being one of my favorite sustainable brands and I will explain why. Amour Vert thrives off of creating fabrics that will last. They don’t sacrifice style when designing ethically. Their line always has your basic tee shirts that could easily be used as a base for a capsule wardrobe. But they also have comfortable everyday dresses, flattering skirts, unique work pants, classic denim and more. They really have it all, including sustainable accessories.

A Sustainable Brand

The most important quality of this brand is that they take their social responsibility very seriously. They manufacture everything locally in the United States, using non-toxic dyes, sustainable fabrics ensuring a zero waste philosophy. Whats even better, they plant a tree with every tee purchased.

I know I have been talking about sustainable fashion a lot lately. As you can tell the environment is very important to me. After working at a grocery store for so long I see all of the plastic being used every day, and how wasteful our society is. Most days I want to shake people and scream WAKE UP. I need to figure out a way to stop the use of those pesky plastic bags. But in the meantime, I will do my part in making the world a greener place as much as I can. Beautifully, sustainable brands like Amour Vert is an easy way to consciously consume fashion. I encourage you to try them.
