The winter air has been brutal this year. I needed to change up my winter skincare routine to help my skin feel more hydrated and glowing. Not flaky, dull, and unmanageable. I have been testing different products and have been struggling to find something that really makes a difference in my skins appearance. But then I found the best skincare line of my life.
Violets Are Blue White Tea and Carrot Seed Facial Cleanser
A few months ago I discovered the Violets Are Blue facial cleanser while scrolling through the beauty products on Anthropologie’s website. What caught my attention was the simple and real ingredients listed in the description. On the front of the bottle, it says it is a white tea and carrot seed cleanser but it also has evening primrose oil, e-wax, silk amino acids, green and white tea extract, argan oil, vegetable glycerin, and lavender oil. Absolutely zero toxic chemicals that cause a drying effect on my sensitive skin.
Each individual ingredient has a purpose for being included in this powerful winter skin elixir. The white tea extract is an antioxidant that helps heal sun damage and replenish dull skin to become firm and youthful. Carrot seed oil replenishes, tightens and rejuvenates the skin. Evening Primrose oil the powerhouse ingredient, fights acne, wrinkles, and eczema. Every girl needs argan oil on her face. It reproduces your skin cells while improving skin elasticity. Lavender improves skin healing, it is anti-inflammatory and calms the nervous system.
The potent essential oil blend is a non-foaming agent that doesn’t strip away your skins natural oils, leaving the skin balanced and glowing. Plus it is gentle enough to use to wipe eye make up away. Cleaning every last bit of makeup off to leave your skin hydrated and ready to rejuvenate. Quite the score to find a two in one product that really heals the skin in the dryest winter climates.
After using the cleanser I completely fell in love with the results. My skin was feeling clean and safe from harsh chemicals. The moisturizer that I was still using was running low so I decided to check out the entire Violets Are Blue product line on their website.
Violets Are Blue – Coconut Oil and Argan Oil – Face and Body Lotion.
I decided to purchase the coconut oil and argan oil, face and body lotion. If you are looking for a product that will instantly relieve your dry, damaged skin this product is a must for your winter skincare routine. The lotion is smooth like butter. Your skin will soak up every last bit leaving your face baby soft the whole day. The oil blend in this product includes coconut oil, avocado oil, sesame seed oil, sweet almond oil, argan oil, castor seed oil, lavender oil and Vitamin E.
This perfect concoction gives your skin all the essential vitamins it needs leaving you truly radiant and nourished skin. A, B1, B2, D and E vitamins are all packed in this product. The coconut oil is an antioxidant that your skin easily absorbs. Coconut oil then strengthens skin tissue while eliminating dead skin cells. Avocado oil helps protect your skin from damaging UV rays while boosting your skin’s collagen. Sesame seed oil is used to repair damaged skin cells and slow aging skin.
As you can see there are a lot of benefits that this product carries and with the continuous use of this lotion, you can really see some serious changes in your skin’s health. I have been using this product as my morning moisturizer the past couple months and it has been a lifesaver. I no longer have itchy winter skin. For my night time moisturizer, I have a rich oil blend that I made myself that I will be sharing in another post!
Violets Are Blue – Sweet Almond and Oatmeal – Face Scrub
I decided to treat my skin with a bonus purchase of the Violets Are Blue face scrub with sweet almond and oatmeal. This indulgence splurge was worth every penny and my skin has changed drastically ever since I added this product to my winter skincare routine. My dull skin is no more. My clogged pores are washed away with this gentle scrub. I use it every week or a couple time a week if I really need to.
My skin needed some extra help shedding dead skin cells in order to reveal my fresh layer of baby skin. Even when I use natural makeup it can really get caked on my skin when using it every day. I needed a way to go deeper to wash away the tough buildup of skin and makeup. This scrub is made with organic cane sugar, organic oatmeal, organic raw almonds, organic grapeseeds, organic rosehips, vegetable glycerin, organic carrot seed essential oil and vitamin E.
Unfortunately, I just found out that Violets Are Blue is no longer carrying this product on their website. Which is extremely disappointing. The last place carrying this product is here. However, they have a body scrub and clay face mask that I would like to try that may have the same skin clearing effects. I will have to test them out and let you guys know.
I know the price of these products may be shocking to some of you. However, these products are built to last a long time. You only have to use a small amount of each product every day. After using these products for about three months I am not even halfway through the bottle. So I hope that sets your mind at ease when purchasing these products.
A Little Bit About Violets Are Blue Company and Founder
Cynthia Besteman the founder of Violets Are Blue was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. This devastating news had her confused. Prior to the diagnosis, she believed that she was leading a healthy lifestyle. She began to take a deeper look at the truth behind toxic pollutants and chemical based products and then made the switch to a truly organic lifestyle. But she soon found that organic and natural labeled products were not any safer. These natural companies were still using parabens, sulfates, and chemicals that were known to disrupt the endocrine system.
This journey led her to the creation of simple beauty products with no hidden chemicals. Every product is carefully handcrafted in small batches. Absolutely zero of their ingredients are tested on animals. All of the products are always natural, free of parabens, sulfates, alcohol, and synthetic fragrance. Read more about her story and products here.
The blue bottles have a purpose too. The blue glass blocks damaging light. The glass helps preserve the products to keep the potency strong while keeping the natural product from spoiling. The bottles can then be re-used for home recipes or can be recycled.
Violets Are Blue is also making a difference in the lives of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer. They provide a care package with their products on the woman’s first day of chemotherapy. You can donate money towards this care package here and all the money goes towards Mount Sinai’s Dubin Breast Center in NYC.
