I am always dreaming of England. I have never been but from what I have heard and what I have seen and what I feel in my bones, if I ever went to the English countryside there is a very slim chance I would return home. There are so many charming things that I love about England, it has always been a place I can see myself calling home. When I think of my dream home I think of a cozy English cottage nestled in a little historic town with a large flower garden. Basically, if you have ever seen The Holiday with Cameron Diaz and Jude Law that little cottage in Surrey is where I picture myself settling down one day.
This time of year all I see is the blooming flowers in Europe online, in magazines, everywhere. I have never seen flowers that grow so lush and colorfully over doorways and on urban streets, they seem to be popping out everywhere. Colorado has its own way of showing off with fields of wildflowers and there are spots you can see really beautiful gardens in the city but not many. Unfortunately the Denver area, in my opinion, does a poor job of preserving history and beauty. There are only pockets of historic buildings and a few botanical gardens to experience these unique features. But the way I crave charming historic buildings and a sea of romantic flowers makes me feel like I am definitely living in the wrong city.
But then I found this rose garden nestled in a residential area. Hidden away from the world. The sea of roses made me feel like I walked into fairyland. As soon as I laid my eyes on this place there was no-one around and I was absolutely stunned that I was actually experiencing such a beautiful place in such a random part of town. It was definitely a “pinch me” moment. I have found my England in my corner of the world.
This garden is a War Memorial Rose Garden that is at peak bloom mid to late June. The community puts in the work to take care of these flowers and they also have a community vegetable garden right next to it. I seriously need to consider living in this community until I can find my dream cottage in the English countryside.
Summer dresses are all I want to wear right now and I could not have picked a better place to photograph this outfit. This was the kind of thing that I was dreaming up in my head and it actually worked out even better in reality. Do you ever experience that? I feel especially as a creative there are so many times that I think about creating the perfect scene in my head but then when it all comes together it is not at all like what I pictured. This photoshoot is by far my favorite to date because it was a dream that worked out so perfectly. I hope I can continue creating exactly what I am dreaming up more and more! Makes my life easier and I feel much more fulfilled. I have a feeling in the next couple of weeks I will have a few new favorite blogs to share with you. Believe me what I have planned is going to inspire all you flower lovers out there. I am traveling to a place I have never been before, right here in Colorado, and I promise you won’t want to miss out on what I will be sharing. Stay tuned!
