Vintage Inspired Winter Style in Gal Meets Glam

Winter Is Here

Winter conditions often hit suddenly in Colorado. But the lucky thing about winters in Colorado is we tend to only get spurts of cold weather. One day it will be snowing and the next day the sun will be shining again. Coloradans have a hard time keeping up with the weather and you will hear us complaining about the constantly changing conditions all the time. But I sure as heck prefer our mild winters. I don’t think I could handle going through an entire season of constant snow and freezing temperatures. Our sunny winter days are quite a blessing.

Preparing My Wardrobe for Winter

It is hard to say goodbye to autumn. It feels like it rushed by in a flash. But I am trying to get excited for the holiday season by preparing my wardrobe with more festive and winter appropriate outfits. I was excited for the snow that hit over the weekend because I got to wear an outfit that I have been excited to wear ever since I bought this berry red Gal Meets Glam dress from the July collection.

Dresses Worth the Investment

If you have been following along on my blog you can tell that I have invested in a lot of Gal Meets Glam dresses. Unfortunately, this brand that I love so much is not ethically produced or considered a sustainable brand. I hope one day that changes because it will always be one of my favorite places to buy dresses. I consider every dress that I have bought from Gal Meets Glam a good investment. I have carefully chosen styles that are timeless, made of quality materials, and are flattering on my body shape. Many of the dresses that I have bought recently work for many different seasons and I plan on wearing them for many years.

Winter Transitions

The red Bette dress that I am wearing here is a late summer design with short sleeves and lightweight fabric. It worked perfectly by itself for warmer days like in this post here. But the deep red color made it easy to transition from summer to fall. With the perfect matching long oxblood trench coat that I already owned paired with some cozy tights and knee-high boots, this dress instantly transitioned to winter. This monochromatic winter style is a vintage dream. It reminds me of the outfits that Midge wears on the show The Marvelous Miss Maisel. Her 1950’s style is always colorful, matchy and oh so dreamy. If you don’t already watch the show it is a must see. The clothes alone are a reason to watch this vintage gem. It is also full of the same Gilmore Girls wit and charm from the same amazing producer Amy Sherman Paladino.

Buying With Intention

I fully intend on buying clothing from ethical sources whenever possible and it is a mission I wholeheartedly stand by. But sustainable clothing is not always the answer when shopping for something that you want to wear over and over again. Nor is it always affordable for every budget. Everyone has a different style and as long as we honor our individual tastes with clothes that we love to wear then that is ultimately the most important thing. The more we wear a favorite dress the less we feel the need to buy something new. That is why every purchase needs to be carefully considered from every angle. The need to shop should not be emotionally driven. If we start buying with true intentions we can start making a difference with the issues of consumerism and fashion waste.
I hope you enjoyed this re-style post! I will gradually be sharing more posts like this one based on how I am styling more of my Gal Meets Glam dresses for winter. Thanks for stopping by and reading!
