Winter Gal Meets Glam Dress

 Ready for the Winter Festivities

The wisp of snow that sprinkled the town last week got me all in the festive Christmas mood! I still can’t believe how fast it arrived. But I am excited to get the Christmas decorations hung and let the festivities begin. I have already started watching Christmas movies on Netflix and it isn’t even Thanksgiving yet! Well, it almost is, but this year I am extra excited for everything Christmas.

I think what is making me so giddy for the holidays is another mountain escape that I have planned for the end of the week. After my family and I stuff ourselves with my very first vegetarian Thanksgiving, we leave for Breakenridge the very next day! There is never a bad time to visit the mountains but I am extra excited to experience all of the festive Christmas decorations and lots of snow. Fingers crossed that we see some fresh snow fall when we are up there.

The Holidays Are For Family Time

I am also really excited to get some extra quality time with my family especially around this time of year. It is hard to see eachother during such a busy time of year, especially recently. It will be nice to escape the hustle and bustle and slow down to enjoy eachothers company. Breckenridge is like a second home to us. We have been visiting this amazing mountain town almost every year ever since I was a little kid. It will be nice to settle into my home away from home that I have missed so much since last November.

Layering Dresses For Winter

When the cold rushes in I am not the kind of girl to stop dressing up. In fact the winter time is one of my favorite times to wear dresses with winter layers. They are extremely fun to layer in all sorts of ways. My autumn Gal Meets Glam dresses that I invested in make the winter time even more exciting because my style really shines when I can wear a dress with boots and tights. My all time favorite outfit combination. There is no better way to stay cozy than a good pair of tights. Then you can add what ever spices the outfit up like this oversized camel coat and red wine turtleneck sweater.

Quality Turtlenecks Are Essential

If your going to layer things properly you have to have a good collection of turtlecks in colors that you wear often and that can match with many outfits. Another important factor when it comes to a essential turtleneck sweater is the material and quality craftsmanship. This Banana Republic sweater in the dark red wine color was everything I was looking for in a sweater. However it was a purchase I made online and unfortunatly the quality was not there. The sweater is very see through. I made the mistake of buying something at a good price that I thought would be of good quality. I don’t typically shop at Banana Republic but it was hard to find a turtleneck that was under $100 in the color I wanted.

The Biggest Online Shopping Flaw

Since it matched my dress perfectly and the main reason I bought it was to layer underneath an outfit I decided to keep it. I will have to be better at buying clothing that I know is madewell and invest in the quality I know I can trust. This often times can be hard when shopping on the internet. A picture can never tell the full story of a garmet and these fashion companies do a good job hiding all the flaws.

Long Coats and Dresses

The oversized camel coat is from Mango I bought it last year around Christmas time for a really good price. Out of all the fast fashion styled brands I would have to say Mango is my favorite. They are a brand I can count on for a reasonably priced item that is madewell. This coat is something that I can wear with a lot of different outfits and it keeps me warm on a snowy day. Long wool coats are absolutly essential for this time of year. And you have to have a couple of good ones that are long enough to pair with dresses.
