Investment Pieces: A Camel Coat

A camel coat is the classic winter piece that every girl should have in their closet. A classic camel coat is the ultimate finishing touch to any kind of outfit. It can be dressed up for a night out or dressed down with jeans and a sweater for a casual day of running errands. The camel color goes great with any kind of color. Neutral colors paired with a camel coat are always a safe bet for a polished and sophisticated look. But the camel color also looks great with pops of bright colors too.

Since this trend is such a big hit right now you can find a camel coat practically in every store. This makes finding the perfect camel coat quite the challenge. Especially since most of the camel coats out there that are worth a darn cost a pretty penny. It’s best to know what you are looking for before you buy anything online. Write down all of the details you are looking for in a camel coat. Then be patient enough to wait for the perfect coat to come along. And as you wait to make sure you are setting aside some money so you can buy the perfect camel coat no matter what the cost. If you spend your money wisely the camel coat you buy could be an item you pull out to wear every winter for the rest of your life.

If you are on a tight budget I would start looking at second-hand sources like Poshmark, The Real Real, Depop and Etsy. There are always gently used options that are high quality at the fraction of the price. Finding a vintage or “like new” wool coat on one of these consignment websites would be much more bang for your buck compared to buying a coat made out of synthetic material at a fast fashion brand like Forever 21 or H&M.

If your willing to spend a little more for something new or if you have been saving your money for an investment coat there are so many good ones out there. I found my perfect camel coat at Everlane. I wanted something that wasn’t too heavy but was still warm, that looked vintage, and that was long enough to wear with dresses and skirts. I really can’t stand the oversized trend. I want my coats to be perfectly fitted with a feminine silhouette, which is the trickiest thing to find and it is really hard to be confident when purchasing online.  That is why I suggest to really take your time and do your research. I am typically a size 2 and I had to size down to a 00 for this coat to look fitted but after finding my size it was the exact coat I was looking for. I liked this coat mostly because it looks like a designer coat but at a much lower price.

That is the great thing about Everlane you get quality items that aren’t overpriced, they are reasonably priced. Meaning it is still a good chunk of money but you at least get what you paid for. A coat like this with a designer label would easily cost upwards of $1000. Like this Mansur Gavriel coat. With my Everlane coat, I can get the luxury look for much less. Also, did I mention that this coat comes in several different colors too! Black, heather grey, grey plaid, lavender, olive green.

My next investment mission is a long black coat. I have been searching for years for the perfect one. What items are you looking to invest in? I am going to write up a guide soon that will help you set up a wardrobe investment plan so you can stay on budget when you are shopping and focus in on the things you need not want. It will be an exciting one! I can’t wait to help more of you build the closet of your dreams!!💕
