I decided to browse a local Goodwill last weekend. I wanted to see if I could find anything on my spring wardrobe wish list and save some money at the same time. Whenever I have an impulse or need to add something to my wardrobe I have been trying to get into the habit of checking the local thrift shops and buy something second hand so I can save more of my money on experiences, not things.
I have been on the hunt for more unique colors to add to my wardrobe like spring green, yellow, red, and tangerine. I own a ton of white and blue. So I have been trying to resist buying these colors so I can start adding more variety to my wardrobe. I realized that I don’t own a lot of tops in solid colors, mostly white or a floral print.
After quickly rummaging through the racks of clothes I found this spring green top. I lucked out with finding a trendy style green to add to my wardrobe. There is actually a lot of fun colors to look through at the Goodwill if you are ever looking for something different. This top really popped out to me because of the cute puffed short sleeves, with the button details. A very on trend color, yet a romantic style that could easily be sold for $50-100 right now and I managed to buy it for only $4.
I decided to style my new top in a fun way by layering it with one of my favorite Gal Meets Glam dresses I bought last summer. The full skirt, high neck, and pink and white stripe print really make it a fun dress for spring. When I paired it with the green top I knew I wanted to tie a knot for a more casual style and the whole outfit turned into a fun vintage inspired 50’s look.
And mixing the bold green with the pink totally made my inner 13-year-old self very excited. The bright colors had me flashing back to the early 2000s. All of the bright color trends floating around the shops has me in a swirl of nostalgia! There have been so many trends throwing me back and I can’t help but be excited to welcome these flashes from the past back into my life and wardrobe.
There is no better place to find nostalgic trends than the thrift shops, vintage stores, and estate sales either. There is always so much gold there. And an authentic piece from the past is always much cooler than the knock-off version in the vintage world. Which comeback tends are catching your eyes this season?
